“Your house is your calling card.”
Yeah, that is a line from the First Wives Club – but it is true!
Entertaining is one thing I am so passionate about. And the one thing that can go so wrong.
Trust me, I have been to houses, apartments, condos, boats…dwellings – all with the same problem: A lackadaisical charcuterie board.
With the simplest ingredients and a no bake recipe, a cheese tray is the easiest thing you can create in the kitchen. Besides my staple –> Gin + Tonic.
In this post I have broken down the core steps to making a very classy board for your next…anything!
Use at least three different cheeses. I always enjoy a triple cream Brie, smooth Swiss and a Rosemary Cheddar. Be sure to create a story with your selection. Mild, medium and bold is the tale I tell.
Break the cheese! If you have selected some hard cheeses, use your washed hands and snap the wedges into pieces. Creating an organic and picturesque look.
Add salami onto the tray. Use a whole link of salami instead of the pre-sliced packages.
Mix in nuts, fresh berries and dried figs (or any other dried fruit.)
I also sprinkled in some fresh thyme.
Your cracker selection will make or break the tray! I prefer a crisp water cracker, a wheat option, and flavored crisp. This one here is Rosemary.
Incorporate hummus, olives, a candle and your favorite bottle of wine. Call your friends and family over. Or better yet, invite them to watch you create this simple yet elegant charcuterie board. That way my technique can spread like a wild fire and we can all forever enjoy a well curated cheese platter!
