Versailles, Versailles, VERSAILLES!

Remember the hit movie, Richie Rich? Macaulay Culkin’s renowned character was blessed with a McDonalds IN his mansion! When all of Richie’s friends came over to tour Rich Mansion, they thought seeing the American staple was beyond amazing, for obvious reasons.

Fast forward a few years and find Ty at Versailles. Wandering through the gilded gates and entering through the left doorway I stopped dead in my tracks. I had found the McDonald’s of Marie Antoinette’s mansion… LADURÉE. It was at that point, I knew I was right where I was supposed to be.

There is a luster and an unspeakable awe when you are walking through the Hall of Mirrors, turn the corner and find yourself looking into Marie’s bed chamber. Enraged in shades of magenta and yards of fringe, the Queens chambers are nothing short of astounding.

Until you reach into your pale mint Ladurée shopping bag and pull out one of the delightful macarons from the special edition black box, bearing a bright white chandelier icon to represent those from the Hall of Mirrors. Feeling the pillowy exterior of the French pastry is enough to make your mouth water, and then…you bite into pure bliss and at once, a simple day trip to Versailles becomes a euphoric experience you didn’t know was possible.

Of course if you aren’t careful it call all come to a halt, as food and drink are not allowed – just keep an eye out for the docents.

This was my Versailles. And I can’t wait to go back!
