This past week I was at the Andaz Scottsdale Resort & Spa in Scottsdale. Every detail was perfect. It was all Mid-Century modern done in a neutral palette with pops of bright blue and fuchsia. Very expressive of the desert hills that the resort occupies. The bright blue reminded me of the sky and water, while the exaggerated shades of pink were of the bougainvillea growing around the property.

When you pull up to the Andaz you are eye to eye with a vintage Cadillac that resembles a bird of paradise other than a 60’s automobile. The fender flares are so exaggerated, I would sooner fly away in this ride, than be driven. She. Is. Gorgeous.

After that you are greeted in what they call the ‘Guest House’ which is the best front desk I have seen. After a welcome glass of wine or beer, you are escorted to your room.

The rooms are beyond chic. I love the skylights, the huge tv, perfect mini bar and shower room. Thats right. A shower room! It feels more like a locker room than a bathroom, but all to yourself!

I had dinner at the Fat Ox, an Italian bistro walking distance from the hotel. It was quite a beautiful restaurant. The decor is beautiful brass details among leathers and warm tones of amber. I ordered steak – of course. But before that, I had the muscles that were served with a fantastic red sauce.

The next morning was a 4:30 am call time. We were going in a hot air ballon! Brought to you by Hot Air Expeditions. From being taken up above the beautiful desert to having a champagne breakfast following the ride – these guys know what is going on!

After a once in a lifetime balloon ride, we hit the pool in one of the Andaz cabanas. Let me tell you, having a front row room steps away from a saline pool all afternoon is one of the most beautiful things. The service is outstanding. The music, vibe and energy the Andaz Scottsdale carries is contagious. Everyone from the staff to the guests is having a great time. I can not wait to get back to the desert!

Let me know what you guys think.

Cheers,

TS
